Musical Director, Forest Row Choral Society

Forest Row Choral Society is seeking to appoint a new musical director from April 2023 as the current MD is retiring.

We are looking for an enthusiastic musical director with a good sense of humour and some experience of working with an amateur/community choir of varying musical abilities. 

Background

Forest Row Choral Society is a friendly, non-audition choir of around 50 members.

It was founded in 1962 as the Michael Hall School Choral Society under its first director Cecil Cope. In 1985 Tom Scratchley took over and moved the choir into the centre of the village.

Under his direction FRCS has developed into a true community choir open to all ages.  

We are delighted that top British tenor Mark Padmore – who lives locally – is our president and has performed various key roles in FRCS concerts since 2013.

Music Director for Wirksworth Community Choir

The Malmesbury Singers based in North Wiltshire is looking to appoint a new Musical Director ideally starting from beginning of September 2023, as Iain Duffin our current MD is retiring after happily leading us for over 30 years. We are a friendly and enthusiastic mixed voiced ‘semi-auditioned’ choir of 60-70 members. The inspiring setting of Malmesbury Abbey is our venue for both rehearsals [Monday evenings 7.30pm- 9.15pm] and performances [two major concerts a year around Easter and Christmas].

New Bristol Sinfonia are looking for a new Musical Director to start in the 2024 season, to help us continue to achieve a recognised position of excellence and quality within the city of Bristol’s musical life.

Wellingborough Singers  are looking for a new MD for rehearsals starting in January, leading to a concert on 20th May

Musical director wanted to succeed Clara Rundell starting April 2023. Must be able to conduct both choir and orchestra. 

Chanticleer Singers is seeking a new Musical Director with effect from Spring/Summer 2023 to take over from Jane Sturmheit, who will be retiring from conducting the choir after 45 years.

We are looking for an Associate Musical Director to join us and help develop our creative programme. This new and exciting role marks a step-change in our way of working. Until now our Director for 40 years, Aedan Kerney, has rehearsed from the keyboard, then bringing in an accomplished accompanist or instrumental ensemble for the day of each concert. We are now looking to have a shared leadership of rehearsals where directing and accompanying are undertaken by both directors week by week. 

Applications are invited for the position of Musical Director of the Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra. We are looking for an experienced and inspiring musician to lead the orchestra as conductor, picking up the baton from our outgoing MD Jack Lovell-Huckle. Jack has been with the orchestra for 10 years after starting with us as a final year university student, and leaves us as a recent appointee as Assistant Conductor at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
