Wirksworth Community Choir Musical Director
We are a mixed voice choir of around 30 singers and regularly meet to rehearse on a Wednesday evening in school term time from 7.45 to 9.30 with a welcome break for tea and catching up with friends. The choir originates from a WEA class in the 1980's. New members are always welcomed in all voices and although we dont audition some working knowledge of reading music is helpful and a love of singing and commitment is essential!
We enjoy a wide range of many music styles: traditional, folk, church, classical and have a good library of repertoire pieces. We don’t have an accompanist and sing a capella.
We don't normally have a concert programme but instead have performed at several community events such as the Mayor'sCivic celebration, the annual Peace Ceremony, garden parties, weddings and funerals, church carol services, care centre afternoons etc.
We are looking for a director to take us forward with some fresh inspiration and to continue and develop our community links.
