Jobs at Making Music

Finance Administrator (Maternity Cover)

Contract: Part time - fixed term postion until 31 December 2025
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £16,204.50 (the full time equivilant is £27,007.50)
Location: Hybrid home/office working (office in Moorgate)
Closing date: 9am, Tuesday 22 April 2025

About this role:

We are looking for a part-time Finance Administrator to support our Finance Manager and our Membership & Services Manager with administrative tasks.

Making Music is the UK association for leisure-time music, with 3,800 music groups in membership including choirs, bands, ensembles of all kinds, orchestras, and more.

The 22.5 hours per week can be worked flexibly, and at least some of them from home, by agreement with your line manager, but we would expect you, if at all possible, to spend at least 1 day each week in our office in Moorgate. This is a fixed postion until 31 December 2025.

We are looking for someone who is organised and has great attention to detail, is comfortable working with numbers and has basic maths, and is good at communicating with our members via email and on the telephone. We expect you to be familiar with frequently used software programs such as Word and Excel, but full training will be provided on financial and administrative tasks, so you do not need to have prior experience, just an interest and willingness to learn!

Experience with Sage or any accounting software is desirable. Some experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or credit control would be advantageous for this role, yet not essential.

This is a friendly team, and our bright and lively office is located in one of the buzziest areas of London, with excellent transport links and nice places to spend your lunchtimes or meet friends after work.

How to apply:

We are looking for the best person for this role, whatever your past opportunities, so we are asking you to complete three tasks online, and your answers to these will be the only information the two staff members making a longlist will look at. We request that applicants don’t use ChatGPT or similar generative AI tools when responding to the tasks.

We understand that having different voices from all sections of society in our team will help us be the best organisation we can be and best support our diverse membership. We especially welcome applications from disabled people, people of the Global Majority or people whose socio-economic background has limited their opportunities.

We are committed to making adjustments to our application process – please get in touch and tell us what we can do: we want you to have the best chance at showing us what you are capable of. Please email James (office@makingmusic.org.uk) or phone 020 7939 6030 and ask for Harriet. James can also help with any further information about the role or the application process.

Please read the covering letter and job description before completing the application form.

(If you have, and we have to decide between candidates of equal merit for interview, we will take positive action to include you in the interview shortlist.)

Application form deadline: 9:00am, Tuesday 22 April 2025

Deadline for submission of second form: 9:00am, Tuesday 29 April 2025

Interviews will be held on Friday 2 May
