Bookham Choral Society is seeking a new Musical Director. We are an enthusiastic amateur choir, founded in 1927 to participate in the Leith Hill Music Festival, with about 45 members. Each year we perform an Autumn and Summer concert and a very popular Christmas/Carol concert. Our Spring term is still devoted to the Leith Hill Music Festival. The Choir is looking for an enthusiastic musical director to lead us, starting in September 2023, who will increase our musical repertoire and enjoyment of all forms of choral work.

We rehearse in Bookham on Tuesdays at 7.30pm.

We rehearse for 3 concerts a year – Spring, Summer and Christmas. Our repertoire is wide and includes whole works, light classical and popular numbers.

No auditions are required for new members. We are all-inclusive and attract members from within the county and beyond!

In addition to the concerts, we also hold 2 workshops each term on a Saturday, as well as additional ad-hoc sectional rehearsals.  Within the main choir, we have an acapella Chamber Choir which rehearses at the end of the main choir rehearsal, normally finishing about 9.45pm.

We have a pro-active board of trustees and are a very friendly and social group of people.  As well as an annual dinner which we hold in January, we also have a ‘members’ party’ where we volunteer to sing for our supper – this usually takes place on the Monday following the summer concert. You will be surprised at the talent within our ranks.
