Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Society (WKCS) is a non-auditioned choir of around 60 SATB voices. We enjoy singing from a wide repetoire of choral music - from the traditional canon of oratorios and folk songs to more contemporary works.
WKCS are seeking a committed experienced Musical Director who will prepare materials, conduct rehearsals, and lead the choir, typically for, four concerts each season. One of these is usually accompanied by an orchestra. You will have the experience to develop musical programmes with a wide appeal and will work alongside the WKCS Committee to achieve this. You will be someone who can encourage and develop the choir's musicality and skills. There will be opportunities to work with other professional musicians and it is hoped that you already have good contacts in the music world.
Rehearsals are held in Warwick on Monday evenings in term time, from 7.30 to 9.30pm. We have a dedicated accompanist with an excellent reputation, who will suppport you in achieving good performance standards, although having keyboard skills would be an asset for the post.
Further information and a full job description can be found on our website: http://wkcs.org.uk, or by contacting the WKCS Secretary, Jane Brock (d.brock268@btinternet.com). To apply please send a musical CV, with the names and addresses of two referees, and a short covering letter outlining your suitability for the post to the WKCS Secretary.
Applications are to be submitted by 5.00pm on Friday 23 June 2023, with interviews on Thursday 6th July 2023 and auditions with the choir on Monday 17th July. It is expected the successful candidate will start in January 2024, or earlier if available.
