Musical Director

The Holme Valley Orchestra, based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, seek to appoint an experienced
Musical Director, to lead rehearsals and concerts as scheduled, programme repertoire accordingly,
and further support our community links.
We are a community amateur orchestra with approximately 40 regular members who meet Wednesday evenings, term time only, performing approximately 3 concerts per year – often more.
The successful candidate will work with the committee and members to promote our core values ofinclusive music-making within the heart of our community, whilst building on the musical progression and development of the orchestra.

Principal Conductor and Music Director

The Principal Conductor is responsible for the overall artistic vision of the orchestra and the preparation and performance of all the orchestra’s concerts in conjunction with the orchestra’s committee. In collaboration with the orchestra’s leader, she or he will also oversee the orchestra’s musical and technical development, seeking to maintain and enhance a high standard of performance.

Henley Symphony Orchestra aims to provide high-quality music-making at affordable prices and to give local musicians a chance to perform the great classical orchestral repertoire which also appeals to our audience.

It is expected that applicants will have experience in conducting and working with amateur musicians. Henley Symphony Orchestra includes members of varying experience; some are professionally trained, although not full-time performing, musicians.

Conductor (symphony orchestra)

Our longstanding conductor is stepping down at the end of this season, so Southgate Symphony Orchestra is looking to appoint a new conductor for our 2024/25 season, i.e. from September 2024.

SSO is an enthusiastic adult amateur orchestra rehearsing weekly on Wednesday evenings at St. Andrew’s Church, Chase Side, Southgate, London N14 5PP. The Orchestra performs three concerts a year, usually in March/April, July and November. There are ten weekly rehearsals to prepare for each concert plus a rehearsal on the afternoon of the concert.

Choir Director

All Sing! Harrow Road Community Choir is a singing group drawing mainly on people living in Kensal Rise, Kilburn, Maida Vale and Paddington. The Choir is open to everyone regardless of age, background or musical experience and we sing a variety of music from all genres, from many different cultures, and in languages from across the world. Music is learned by rote, in the interest of maximum inclusiveness and in support of the principle that anyone can sing. The choir rehearses weekly during term-time and is based at St. John’s Church, Kensal Green, 2 Kilburn Lane, London W10 4AA. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, currently from 6.30 – 8.30 pm. The choir runs on a three-term academic year and each term the members learn a new repertoire. A workshop for the community and for interested members is held at the end of the spring term and a concert is held at the end of the summer term and the autumn term. The choir has been in existence since 2009. Following a dip in members due to the pandemic, the number of members has been slowly increasing and this remains the focus of the trustees. The current membership is 30. The choir has performed at venues including Wigmore Hall, The Roundhouse and Paddington Central, as well as at a local venues such as Maida Hill Market Place, Paddington Library, City of Westminster College and a number of local churches and community settings. The choir is led by a musical director and is supported by an accompanist. The choir is managed by a committee and is registered as a charity.
