Role Summary and requirements:
- To lead the programming and all areas of music and creative direction, in consultation with the Sinfonia's Committee.
- Further develop the musicianship and standard of the Sinfonia in an inspirational manner which is encouraging and enjoyable for all; work with and around the range of abilities, providing stretch to sections or individual players commensurate with their levels.
- Support and advise the Sinfonia's Committee on its approach to recruitment of players.
- Be available and lead a schedule of concerts and rehearsals each year, as agreed with the Committee (currently the Sinfonia schedules 3 concerts per year).
The position of Conductor/Music Director will be vacant from September 2024. Rehearsals are currently on Tuesday evenings 7.45 - 9.45pm in St. Mildred's Church, 30 Bingham Road, Croydon, CR0 7EB. The candidate should have experience of conducting an orchestra to a good standard, knowledge and familiarity with the symphonic repertoire, and a positive, friendly, motivated and committed attitude.
