We are thrilled to announce the shortlisted nominees for the 2024 Making Music Awards, followed by a celebratory evening on Wednesday 18 September where we announce the winners and honour the creativity and efforts of the leisure-time music community.

The awards celebrate Making Music's nearly 4,000 member groups and their activity, and the often unrecognised talent which helps the sector to flourish across the UK.

Public voting for the Making Music President's Award is now open - help us celebrate the amazing volunteers of Making Music member groups.

The President's Award, an integral part of the Making Music awards, recognises volunteers who have given exceptional service to any Making Music member group. This could be for a short-term exceptional effort, or a longer-term achievement, and it could recognise an individual or a group of volunteers (e.g. a committee).

The most commonly known fact about chameleons is that they camouflage themselves to match their surroundings. While we can’t promise colour-changing musicians, we do pride ourselves on fitting in to whatever musical situation we are in.

Welcome to our new premium corporate member, CHORALLY, a dedicated online community platform that connects the world of choral and vocal music.

Founder Ian Clethero, whose musical journey began as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral at the age of eight (and continues on Sundays at the organ console at a church in Bromley), launched the project as he saw a need for a ‘go-to place’ online to make it easy for choir leaders, performing groups, singing enthusiasts, and organizations around the world to find information and network with each other.

Three vacancies to the Making Music Board were this year contested by nine nominees. The successful candidates – voted for by Making Music members – were announced at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 26 June. In addition, the Board used its powers to co-opt a member from Northern Ireland to the Board.
