Our newest corporate member, Chameleon Arts Orchestra, talk to us about how they can support music-making.
Chameleon Arts Orchestra… an interesting name. Why?
The most commonly known fact about chameleons is that they camouflage themselves to match their surroundings. While we can’t promise colour-changing musicians, we do pride ourselves on fitting in to whatever musical situation we are in.
The core players have been playing together for decades, some ever since the orchestra was set up in 1994 by Andy Phillips. Many members will know Andy from Chameleon Music Hire – we’re part of the same family.
All the Chameleon players are busy freelance musicians with a huge range of musical skills, as well as specific knowledge and experience of the choral repertoire. We mostly work in the South of England up to the Midlands, and are equally comfortable playing in a small ensemble or full orchestra.

How does the process of booking players work? Well, it starts with an enquiry, which doesn’t have to be at all firm. You might not know the exact programme yet, or have a fixed date in mind. You can contact us through our website, where you can also see more about us. From the available information, we will supply a free quotation, which can be revised as ideas are refined. Once details are established, taking into account the size of your venue and choir, your repertoire and budget, we will send a contract for you to sign. Fees are payable usually in two instalments, two weeks before the performance and on concert day.
You can sit back and relax with nothing to worry about; we all know how much there is to do on concert day!
Live instrumentalists enhance the experience of a concert, for both the choir and the audience. We are taking bookings for Autumn 2024 onwards – give us a try!
