As of October 2024, Making Music no longer provides DBS checks as a service.
Making Music used to act as an umbrella organisation to help provide enhanced DBS checks for our member groups' volunteers and employees. We did this through the Know Your People System which is provided by a third party called First Advantage. However, we are ending this partnership as of 31 October 2024 and will no longer be acting as an umbrella organisation for DBS checks.
The reason for this decision is that First Advantage prices have increased, and we felt our members were not getting the best possible rates; and secondly, having Making Music as a middleman in the support process between you and First Advantage has meant the support has not been as efficient as it could be.
While there are many organisations that can provide enhanced DBS checks, we have negotiated a deal with DBS provider UCheck to offer favourable rates for Making Music members.
Any member signing up with Ucheck between 7 October 2024 and 7 January 2025 will receive the following rates on all future DBS checks:
- Enhanced Employee check: £42.80
- Enhanced Volunteer check: £4.80
Members signing up for a UCheck account after 7 January 2025 will receive the following rates on all future DBS checks:
- Enhanced Employee check: £45.40
- Enhanced Volunteer check: £7.40
There is a one-off set-up fee of £58.80 to create an account for your group with UCheck.
UCheck will provide all support for using their service. You can still come to us with general safeguarding queries and for information about when you can get enhanced DBS checks. Making Music does not receive commission or payment of any kind from UCheck if you use their service.
If you wish to sign up with UCheck, fill in the form below and email it to james.irons@ucheck.co.uk along with the discount code MAKINGMUSIC24 and the name of your group.
