Making Music is delighted to announce that Derek Harrison, Musical Director of Hertford Choral Society, has been awarded the Lady Hilary Groves Prize. Making Music vice chair Clare Birks presented Derek with his award at a ceremony on Tuesday 9 November.
The prestigious prize is presented annually to an individual from a Making Music member group who has had a significant impact on their group’s success or made an outstanding contribution to community music.

Since lockdown measures have eased, identifying poorly ventilated areas has become a priority area of risk assessment, and monitoring CO2 levels is a vital part of this. It’s not often that the government budget and spending review creates headlines for leisure-time music groups, but this time it does: the Chancellor has just doubled Orchestra Tax Relief (OTR) to 50%.
