Corporate member Biiah tell us how they can help your music group by supporting their health through singing.
As singers and musicians involved in leisure-time music-making, we already know how beneficial group music-making is for our mind, body and community. Group singing, in particular, has been found to contribute to lower stress, reduce a sense of loneliness, and strengthen our breathing and lung health, positively enhancing physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
At Biiah, we want your singers (and ultimately, the rest of the world) to be able to see and track the positive impact singing has on all aspects of a life well lived.
Does group singing fill your cup? Then read on!
Music tech startup Biiah uses technology to help people connect through singing together. We are looking for choirs willing to participate in an impact case study about how group singing affects the physiological data collected by surveys and wearable health tracking technology (e.g. Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, Fitbit, etc).
Our aim with this study is to find new ways to show the value of group singing in our lives. Singers do not need to own a wearable device to participate, but a smartphone is necessary.
We are looking for groups that:
- have a minimum of 10 singers
- use recorded audio tracks (backing tracks or rehearsal tracks)
- teach (mostly) by rote
- meet weekly
Study length: minimum of 3 months
Note: This study is for adults 18+. Intergenerational choirs can participate in this study and under 18s can continue singing during the course of the study, they just won’t be able to participate in our study.
Register your group's interest in the study by completing this form
