The cost of engaging and arranging a performance of professional artists can add up. To help smaller promoter members of Making Music (with a gross income of below £14.5K) to cover some of these costs, Making Music is offering a Promoters Subsidy.
*Due to the high volume of requests received, the Promoters Subsidy is now closed. Once more funds become available we will reopen the subsidies and application form*
What is the Promotors Subsidy and who can apply?
The subsidy is open to any Making Music promoter group that has a gross income of below £14.5K (based on the group’s Making Music membership level).
Each qualifying group can claim one Promoters Subsidy per calendar year and can use the subsidy to cover the costs incurred for one of the options below:
- Venue hire
- Artists engagement fee
- Artists travel expenses
- Instrument hire
- Promotional materials
The subsidy can be used for performance expenditure only. This can be across multiple dates if groups are promoting a season or festival or just for one performance date, and can’t be used for any costs incurred that do not relate to a specific performance.
How much is the subsidy?
Making Music will pay 50% towards the promoter group’s total expenses with a maximum of £100 available to claim. There is a limit on the number of subsidies that you can claim each year, and subsidies are offered on a first come, first served basis.
Example breakdown
Total venue hire costs £100 – the promoter will receive a £50 subsidy
Total venue hire costs £200 – the promoter will receive a £100 subsidy
Total venue hire costs £400 – the promoter will receive a maximum subsidy of £100
How to claim the subsidy
- Please use the form below to put in a request for the subsidy. The subsidy must be requested and approved by Making Music in advance of the performance to which the subsidy applies.
- We will email you once we have approved the subsidy request.
- Once the performance has taken place, to make the claim, please email us at info@makingmusic.org.uk and attach a subsidy claim form along with receipts/proof of booking/hire paid by the group as well as publicity material relating to the performance.
