At Making Music we will celebrate Music Day 2016 with three pop-up choirs in Cardiff, Edinburgh and London. Join us on 21 June and let’s get as many people as possible singing!
In Cardiff, we will meet outside the Cardiff Central Library (The Hayes, CF10 1FL) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Affinity Female Voice Choir will lead this 'come and sing' event with well-known songs from films and shows.
In Edinburgh, the Stockbridge Colonies Choir will be joined by members of Making Music choirs from across the city and beyond to sing favourite songs. We will sing from 5:30pm to 6:15pm at The Grassmarket (West End, EH1 2JU), beneath the spectacular backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
In London, the Making Music Choir will gather from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at The Scoop (More London, SE1 2DB), by the River Thames. Our choir will be made up of staff, volunteers, members, friends and passers-by. Led by Janna Goodwille, we'll learn and perform a variety of songs suitable for all vocal ranges and abilities. This vocal workshop will be flexible in style - allowing you to join or leave the choir at any point in the proceedings. We'll be encouraging passers-by to come and join in with us as we learn songs from scratch and then perform them. Anyone can turn up and have a go!
Music Day, which originated in France in 1982 (the original name is Fête de la Musique), is a celebration of the power of music that includes thousands of free public music events around the world.
