Bristol Cabot Choir wish to appoint a new
MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Our Musical Director is moving on after thirteen very successful years.
We seek a new MD, from September 2025, with a wide musical knowledge and ready to inject exciting and new ideas into our concert programmes, to work with local composers and lead the choir performing either “a cappella”, with piano / organ, or with orchestral accompaniment.
An auditioned choir, founded in 1977, with 60+ male/female voices, we meet at Redland Park United Reformed Church, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS6 6SA. Rehearsals, which include a social coffee break, take place on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 pm, from September to the end of June, with short breaks during school holidays.
A registered charity, Bristol Cabot Choir also raises money from its concerts for a local “charity of the year”, chosen by the members. Recent Winter and Spring performances have been in Bristol Cathedral, Clifton Cathedral, St Mary Redcliffe and St Peter’s Henleaze and our repertoire has included: Britten: Ceremony of Carols, Elgar: Dream of Gerontius (together with Bristol Phoenix choir and Bristol Classical Players), Rutter: Requiem, Poulenc: Gloria and Verdi: Requiem. Our Summer programme is often lighter, e.g. Gilbert and Sullivan Pirates of Penzance and sometimes includes a ‘Come and Sing’ event.
Detailed information about the Choir can be found on our website: www.bristolcabotchoir.org
