About the Choir: The Clapham Community Choir, based at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham Old Town,
offers a welcoming space for people to come together and sing. Currently led by Adam Saunders, the
choir explores a variety of musical styles, providing both a creative outlet and a sense of community for
its members. Regular rehearsals, performances and socials bring the choir together, creating a fun and
supportive environment for everyone involved. Supported by an energetic committee, the choir has
doubled in size over the past two years to 70 members and now has a hefty waiting list.
The Role: As the leader of our choir, you'll:
● Lead weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evening, teaching a dynamic mix of SATB repertoire
(popular music, folk, jazz, gospel, soul and musical theatre with some classical pieces too).
● Prepare and direct the choir for performances, at least one gig each term.
● Create a fun and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging vocal growth and fostering a sense of
community among members.
● Provide sheet music for all parts in digital format.
● Create vocal tracks for all parts to be stored online for members to practice with between
rehearsal.
What We Offer:
● Weekly term-based rehearsals from 19:30 - 21:00 on Tuesdays, with up to 70 members per
session. Currently the choir rehearses 42 weeks of the year, with breaks at Christmas, Easter
and summertime.
● Competitive fees per rehearsal, with additional fees for performances and some preparation.
Key Skills We’re Looking For:
● A solid background in music and choir-leading.
● Ability to play piano.
● Experience in leading groups, with an ability to engage and inspire others.
● Confidence in teaching by ear and with notation, creating an inclusive and dynamic learning
environment.
● A personable, approachable attitude that encourages participation and teamwork.
Desirable Skills:
● Experience with teaching vocal / breath techniques
● Experience with different languages / styles of music
