Musical Director

The Loughborough Orchestra is looking for a new musical director for 2024

We are a friendly Community Orchestra which meets in Loughborough on Monday evenings during term time. The orchestra does not audition players but normally expects them to be grade 5 or above. There are strong players in all sections.

We prepare for two concerts each year; one in January and the other in June. We play a variety of standard orchestral repertoire.

The orchestra was started in the early 1990s and we have enjoyed a successful period of music making with our current musical director for the past 14 years. We are now looking for a new musical director, preferably with previous orchestral conducting experience, to lead the orchestra forward.

As musical director you would be expected to:

• Lead Monday evening rehearsals during term time
• Conduct two concerts a year
• Put together the concert programme in consultation with the committee

We would welcome interested candidates at a rehearsal conducting one of our current programme items.  There is a termly fee available to cover expenses.
