Musical Director

Knaresborough Choral Society is a locally respected SATB musical group in the historic town of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, with approximately 45 singers. We rehearse in Gracious Street Methodist Church, Knaresborough, on Thursday evenings during term-time, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Established for nearly 40 years, the society performs three concerts each year, covering a wide range of music. We are a non-auditioning Society but strive for high standards and are proud to have performed many of the great choral works. We also perform at numerous local and community events throughout the year.

We welcome applications from ambitious and creative musicians. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional musician with relevant experience of working with choirs and of conducting concerts with and without an orchestra, with wide knowledge of the choral repertoire and who enjoys working with amateur singers.

The Musical Director will be responsible to and supported by the choir committee. The MD will plan programmes in consultation with the committee and its music sub-committee.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to lead a regular rehearsal during the first half of the Autumn Term as part of the selection process.

Remuneration and contract period is negotiable, and subject to an annual review.
