The Aubrey Singers are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic conductor/musical director for our newly set-up community choir based on the Holland Park/ Notting Hill border. We are a friendly non-auditioned SATB choir of about 35 adults and are keen to attract new members. The core members of the choir have sung together for over 15 years under a previous musical director, who is recently retired. During that time, the core members have performed an extensive and varied classical and modern classical choral repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to contemporary works by the likes of Laurisden, Taverner and Gjeilo. Despite our amateur status, we are hard-working and dedicated and aspire to sing as well as we can, hoping to put on 2/3 concerts a year which will continue to bring in an enthusiastic audience following.
We are looking for someone with a strong musical vision who will share our passion for choral singing and keep us on our toes- a good sense of humour would also be welcome!
We rehearse weekly on Sunday evenings 7.00pm-9.00pm in term time with a resident accompanist in St George’s Church, Aubrey Walk, London W8 7JG.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience. details to be discussed upon application. We would like to hold auditions for prospective candidates in the week of 18 April 2022 with a view to start rehearsing on 1 May 2022.
