The world's biggest grassroots music festival on 21 June went digital this year, lighting up people's homes with music and giving them the opportunity to create, perform and watch music!
From all across the four nations of the UK, music makers of all kinds took part with their own musical events, not to mention the official live feed that featured highlights including singing lessons with a Welsh soprano, Indian classical music lessons, contributions from the National Youth Folk Ensemble, Northern Irish intercultural arts organisation Beyond Skin, DJ sets and much more.
Making Music Chief Executive Barbara Eifler interviewed representatives from Make Music Days in Italy, Germany and the US about their celebrations, as well as three Making Music member groups, Weston Choral Society, Suffolk Sinfonia and Seer Green Singers on what they've been doing during lockdown, which you can watch below.
There were also fantastic opportunities to take part, from making your own instruments out of rubbish with Bash the Trash, the Lockdown Sound Challenge where you could send in everyday sounds for producers to mix into tracks, to a virtual performance of 'Auld Lang Syne' for Make Music Day Scotland.
Our very own Making Music members came together to form a Virtual Choir & Ensemble that gave a brilliant performance of 'Bring Me Sunshine,' the anthem of Make Music Day UK, in a specially commissioned arrangement which you can watch again below.
