Making Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen McNally as its first Northern Ireland Manager.
Based in Mid Ulster, McNally will support Making Music member groups across Northern Ireland and undertake campaigning and advocacy for members and the Northern Irish leisure-time music community in general.
Barbara Eifler, Making Music Chief Executive, comments:
“Making Music is very pleased to appoint a Manager in Northern Ireland to support our members and the leisure-time music sector. We all know the value of such musical activity to us personally and the community at large, and having someone on the ground who understands the musical landscape of Northern Ireland will be, we hope, useful in helping that landscape to thrive and be celebrated as it should be.”
Stephen brings to the role over 25 years’ experience across education, media and sport. In 2010 he founded the non-profit social enterprise Cycul to create projects and events to promote active travel and participation in cycling for all. One of their key events, Lap the Lough, continues to be one of the largest participative events in Northern Ireland.
Stephen comments:
“I’ve always been passionate about music, whether writing, performing, promoting, or simply listening, and I know how important music – and particularly live music – is to all of our lives in Northern Ireland. There are thousands of individuals and groups regularly involved in leisure-time music across the country, and I look forward to working with Making Music to help give them a bigger stage and a stronger voice.”
