Making Music is delighted to announce that volunteer Elaine Fox, one of Making Music's longest serving volunteers, has been awarded the 2019 President’s Award for her exceptional service to the organisation.
Elaine has been volunteering with Making Music since she finished full time work in 2006. She is a Member Contact Volunteer and part of Making Music's Listening Panel, who help to choose the musicians listed in the Selected Artists Guide.
"I have been very fortunate to have done such varied things during my time as a Making Music volunteer. It has been a huge pleasure and to receive this award is the icing on the cake."
Member Engagement and Events Manager Sharon Moloney says: "Elaine is very good at getting involved in anything and everything. The main part of her role is contacting Making Music members by telephone to let them know about upcoming events in their area, or about other services that may be of benefit to them, and she is almost always one of the first to sign up to make the phonecalls. She also makes a point of attending events that are local to her, often getting in touch beforehand to let me know that she will be there and offering to help with setting up or serving refreshments or anything else that may be needed.
"Elaine has been a stalwart of the volunteer team for many years – reliable, helpful and cheerful in all that she does, and always willing to go the extra mile to help us out."
"Elaine is also a valued member of our listening pool for the Selected Artists Guide. She takes quite a large share of this work on – she is a highly active listener, whose reports are always full of useful remarks that help inform our Selected Artists Panel in choosing our artists for the Guide. She has been a stalwart of the volunteer team for many years – reliable, helpful and cheerful in all that she does, and always willing to go the extra mile to help us out."
We’d like to say a big thank you to Elaine and all our volunteers for the crucial part they play in helping Making Music give leisure-time music groups the vital guidance and support they need to thrive.
