Classic FM’s John Brunning might be best known for presenting the station’s popular Drivetime programme but he’s also a skilled musician and composer.
His latest composition Amazing Day is an oratorio in seven parts for choir with keyboard or orchestral accompaniment-and while his background includes time as a rock musician playing with the band Mungo Jerry, his classical compositions have now been recorded by artists as diverse as Katherine Jenkins, The King's Singers, All Angels, Craig Ogden and Xuefei Yang.
“I don’t like to pigeon hole music” he explains, “my style is melody-led, certainly. Modern classical went through a phase of putting melody second but I think we’re in a time when it is advantageous once again”.
Hal Leonard, in association with www.musicshopeurope.com are delighted to offer Amazing Day to Making Music members with an exclusive 15% discount.
“It has always been my intention for the work to be as accessible as possible” says John, “and I look forward to some inspiring performances”. Amazing Day is available to hear in full on John’s website.
