Musical Director

St Albans Rehearsal Orchestra (SARO) is a symphony orchestra that rehearses for its members to enjoy playing in an orchestra, improve their understanding and ability of playing in an orchestra, and to be able to “perform” for themselves to the best of their ability.  It is in all senses an amateur orchestra and more akin to the notion of music groups that were part of adult education colleges. At the same time SARO is ambitious and seeks to be suitably challenged.  SARO does NOT put on concerts.  It does occasional sessions in schools to support music education.

SARO seeks a permanent Musical Director from September 2025 who has not just the musical abilities but also the aptitude for the educational ethos of working with an enthusiastic and friendly non-professional orchestra.

Rehearsals: Wednesday during term time 10:00 – 12:00am

Venue: Mid Herts Music Centre, Birchwood Avenue, Hatfield, AL10 0PS

Remuneration: Full sessional fees for rehearsals
