The South London Singers (SLS) seek an experienced Music Director to lead and inspire our diverse group of around 35 singers from January 2025.
The SLS were founded in 1982 in Beckenham, south-east London. We are an amateur chamber choir known for its wide repertoire of choral music spanning many centuries and styles. We perform both intimate chamber music and larger choral works, and collaborate with professional and emerging musicians, including distinguished conductors, accompanists, and soloists. As a non-auditioned choir, our members range from beginners to semi-professional singers. The director must skilfully balance the group's varied experience levels.
The choir rehearses weekly on Mondays at Beckenham Methodist Church, with approximately 37 rehearsals per year between September and July. We perform four concerts annually. Our members, ranging in age from their twenties to their eighties, form a sociable and inclusive group, with around 30-35 regular singers spread fairly evenly across the voice parts.
