We’re a supportive group that encourages a shared enjoyment of our music as well as continuous improvement. Our players include music teachers, students, adult learners and “rusties" (who may need some time with us to polish up their skills again). There’s no upper or lower age limit to join us and no formal audition, just a short trial period and a request that players are minimum grade 5 standard in order to manage the music we play. There are opportunities to take lead roles, play solos and gain experience within friendly section groups and the wider orchestral setting.
Our music selection is collaborative and responsive to the interests of our members and audiences - we typically perform three concerts each year with music ranging from classical to light modern, including symphonies and concertos.
Our rehearsal hall has been recently refurbished and is easily accessed for players from the Southampton, Solent and New Forest area. We have plenty of parking and lift shares are often possible.
You’ll find us rehearsing every Thursday during term time from 7.45pm to 9.45pm at Bramshaw Village Hall, Row Hill Cottage, Bramshaw, Lyndhurst, SO43 7JE.
Interested? Do get in touch, we’d be very pleased to hear from you!
We’re happy to answer any questions and invite you along to a rehearsal, just email us at solentconcertorchestra@mail.com.
