Conductor/Music Director

We are seeking an engaging and inspirational Musical Director commencing September 2023 to lead rehearsals in a fun, lively and progressive way. Experience of leading singing in a community setting with a sense of humour and enthusiasm is important to us, as is the ability to coach members with different levels of music ability and vocal confidence. Experience of teaching music by rote or without music is desirable, as would leading from the piano.

You must have a commitment to rehearsals, growing the choir and leading performances. The ability to create practice tracks to be distributed to choir members, e.g. on Dropbox, would be a bonus. 

The Musical Director will be expected to provide an alternative conductor for rehearsals in the event of absence and engage with the committee in selection and sourcing of music repertoire.

You will be a co-opted member of our organising committee, expected to offer advice on music related matters and assist the committee in managing the musical direction and strategy of the choir including the planning and scheduling of performances and collaborative initiatives.

Selected candidates will be invited for interview and to lead part of our regular rehearsal on either Thursday 22nd or 29th June between 7.30-9.30pm.

Remuneration

This position currently has a rehearsal fee of £30 per hour, subject to review, in addition to a similar fee for conducting performances. 

There will be a probationary period of six months for the successful candidate.
