Description of vacancy:
Newbury Choral Society is seeking a new Music Director (MD) effective January 2023 to continue the tradition of high quality music making that stretches back over 130 years.
We are an un-auditioned choir of 70-80 members (higher pre-pandemic) that performs three concerts per year and engages a professional orchestra for at least one, ideally two per year if finances permit. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings in Newbury between 19:30 and 21:30.
We expect the new MD to re-energise the choir as we return from the pandemic and lead us as we strive to maintain the high standard of music making from the major choral works catalogue together with more varied programmes to broaden the appeal for both choir and audience.
