Marchwood Prelude is a friendly community orchestra based in Marchwood, on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire.
We play film, show and light classical music specially arranged to suit the 30-piece ensemble, which comprises members of a range of musical abilities.
The line-up of instruments in Prelude currently includes: violins, cellos, bass, flutes, clarinets, saxpohones, guitars, percussion, with vacancies for brass
Our supportive ethos encourages people to enjoy making music together, and we involve the local community by raising money for good causes.
We are now seeking a lead conductor for early-evening rehearsals during term-time on Thursdays at Marchwood Village Hall.
Our new Bandleader/Lead Conductor will:
- Lead rehearsals with energy, direction and a sense of fun
- Draw the best out of both individuals and the ensemble as a group
- Work closely with the Committee and the existing associate conductors (who are all players in the orchestra) in the development of future direction regarding both repertoire and concerts.
It is hoped to engage the new bandleader/conductor in March 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Marchwood Prelude is part of Marchwood Music Society.
