Kelvin Choir based in Bearsden, Glasgow, is looking for a new musical director to start in January 2023.
We are a non-audition, mixed voice (SATB) choir whose current membership of approximately 65 has varied experience and technical abilities. We mostly perform classical choral music, but have included some music well outside of this usual repertoire in past performances, as well as a selection of seasonal music. Further details via the link below.
Our main purpose is to have fun singing in a friendly environment, but also to learn and improve our singing technique. We are not afraid of a challenge.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings (7:30pm to 9:45, including a 15 minute break), at St Andrew’s church hall, Bearsden, from September through to May (with a break over the summer). We can offer attractive remuneration by negotiation (for rehearsals and concerts) and we offer the support of the committee, responsible for running the choir and concert organisation. We hold two concerts per year as standard, one just before Christmas and one in mid-May and have frequently been joined by a local amateur orchestra and professional soloists in our spring concerts.
We are looking for a director with musical knowledge and enthusiasm, ideally with some directing experience, with good communication and conducting skills. They will be responsible for developing the choir’s performance and building an engaging rehearsal programme that is encouraging and enjoyable for members.
To apply or for further information, email Joanna Wilson (Chair) Joanna.wilson@glasgow.ac.uk. Closing date for expressions of interest is 31 October.
