Ember Choral Society

Ember Choral Society is looking to appoint a new Musical Director from 4 January 2023.

We are a mixed, non-auditioning choir of 55+ singers based in Thames Ditton, Surrey.  We present two/three concerts a year and perform a wide repertoire of mainly classical music.  We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from September to June, and broadly follow academic term dates and holidays.

We are looking for a music graduate or similar with experience of choral and orchestral conducting, who will work with amateur singers with diplomacy and understanding to produce high quality performances. He or she will have a wide knowledge of the choral repertoire in order to advise on programmes that will appeal to our audience.  Also some singing experience and knowledge of vocal technique is desirable in order to help our members to improve their singing.  The successful applicant will have a sense of humour and engaging manner.

The Musical Director will be responsible for taking weekly rehearsals, conducting concerts, advising the music committee on future concert programmes, and engaging soloists and an orchestra when relevant.
