Egham Choral is looking for a new Musical Director starting in September 2023, to replace Richard Robbins who has been MD for 7 years and is leaving the area.
We are a sociable and motivated non-auditioned mixed choir of approximately 50 members, singing traditional and contemporary choral music. Rehearsals are in the United Church of Egham, Surrey, TW20 9EX, on Mondays at 7.30pm to 9.30pm during school terms. The choir performs 3 concerts a year, at least one with professional orchestra and soloists selected by the musical director. We even kept going throughout the pandemic with concerts online and outdoors! Our community partners include Royal Holloway University, local schools and Egham brass band.
Plans for 2023/24 include ‘Messiah’ choruses in the chapel at Royal Holloway University at Christmas, and Brahms ‘A German Requiem’ in the Spring. Please see our webpage for recent repertoire.
The new Musical Director will play a vital role in shaping the choir’s future programme and strategy. We are open to a wide range of conducting experience. Key attributes should include enthusiasm for developing the choir’s repertoire and concert standards, whilst maintaining a focus on vocal training and musical interpretation. Good keyboard skills are desirable to assist with part rehearsals.
To apply for the role, please send your CV and covering letter to Jenny Coulon at chairman@eghamchoral.org. Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview and asked to lead part of a regular choir rehearsal. The successful applicant will be appointed on a self-employed basis and paid an agreed fee per rehearsal and concert.
Egham Choral is a choir of Egham & District Choral Society (Registered Charity No. 277588).
