Music Director

• Cranford Choral Society is a small chamber choir based near Wallingford in South Oxfordshire
• The MD takes rehearsals on Monday evenings from 8.00pm till 9.30pm during academic terms
• Main responsibilities include:
  • Preparing the choir at weekly rehearsals for two or three concerts a year
  • Leading extra rehearsal(s) for the choir with accompanist(s), soloists and orchestra (where relevant) before each concert
  • Conducting at concerts
  • Working with the elected Committee of members to agree a repertoire for the year, helping to source performers for each concert to an agreed budget, and advise on filling any accompanist vacancy if it arises
  • Attend Committee meetings as requested (no more than four a year)

REMUNERATION

• Remuneration is £65 per weekly rehearsals attended and £250 for rehearsal and performance on the day of the concert
• Other activities requested by the Committee will be remunerated at an agreed rate
• Payment is made against invoice, normally at the end of each calendar month
• The contract is normally renewable every three years and is subject to the completion of a probationary trial period covering the time up to and including the first concert after the appointment. CCS may waive the trial period at its discretion
