We are seeking a creative Musical Director to lead our unique organisation into the future on the retirement of our founder and current Director.
The Cobweb Orchestra is a thriving open-access musical organisation playing mainly ‘classical’ (western art) music. Nine orchestral groups spread across the North of England and Cumbria play in weekly term time sessions. We also come together for study days, concerts with professional soloists, residentials and much more. There are around 300 members, ranging from complete beginners to people playing at diploma level. We have charitable status and a board of elected Trustees, with whom the Musical Director will work.
The role includes arranging the musical programme, organising and conducting orchestral events (with admin assistance), supporting the individual group conductors, and liaising with other musicians. You will have vision and drive to develop the organisation. You will be a classically trained musician, with experience of, and a passion for, working with amateur musicians of all standards.
This is a substantial post, expected to require on average the equivalent of 2 days a week, for which we would offer a monthly fee of £1200-1500 depending on qualifications and experience.
