Requirements + Responsibilities

Given the need to rehearse weekly in Central London, the GC should be London-based, and have the right to work in London.

The GC will be responsible for rehearsing the orchestra to a polished standard in preparation for a paying audience, and for conducting the orchestra in concert on Sat 6 July 2024 in Central London.

The GC should be available on Tuesday evenings to rehearse the orchestra, as per the Members page: https://www.amatiorchestra.com/members/

Rehearsals are Tuesdays 7:30-9:45pm at St Botolph’s-without-Aldersgate (EC1A 4EU) in the City of London, which has excellent transport links to: St Paul’s (3 min walk), Barbican (6 min walk), City Thameslink (8 min walk).

The concert is at Holy Trinity Sloane Square, with an afternoon rehearsal from 3-6:15pm.

Application Process

Please submit your biography detailing your experience, which can be a link to your website. A shortlist of candidates will be invited to rehearse the orchestra, by way of audition. If needed, candidates will be invited for a 2nd round of auditions with the orchestra.

Fee

The following will apply for the successful candidate:

Rehearsal will be paid at a rate of £70 per hour. Per 2h 15m rehearsal, this equates to £157.50 per evening.

The same hourly rate will apply for the concert day afternoon dress rehearsal.

The concert will be paid at a rate of £75 per hour. For a 2 hour concert (including interval), this equates to £150.

These hourly rates take into account score preparation, the difficulty of the repertoire, and advanced level of rehearsal expected. The higher hourly concert rate also takes into account the added pressure of the performance.

The orchestra will not pay expenses.

Candidates will not be paid or reimbursed expenses for auditions.

The payment schedule will be agreed with the successful candidate.
