In this recording of our webinar (original event 16 February 2024), we talked about our progress on our #MakeSpaceforMusic campaign, since its launch in Autumn 2023.
This campaign is raising awareness about threats to essential infrastructure – the spaces you use to rehearse, learn and meet in to make music. We talked about possible solutions, like getting involved in planning consultations, or volunteering your time to take on or run a community owned space, and brainstormed what other spaces could be used. We also touched upon the Community Spaces Forum we hosted in October 2024, and how to widen out your search for the perfect space.
We welcomed expert guest speaker Thorsten Dreyer, the Programme Manager for the Greater London Authority’s Culture and Community Spaces at Risk programme, which supports organisations at acute and immediate risk of losing the space they operate from. They talked about how we you can take action when your music spaces are threatened.
The views represented by the speakers in this webinar are their own, and do not represent the views of Making Music.
