Royal Choral Society – all voice parts

Vacancy Type:
Application deadline:
Monday, 11 September 2017
Description of vacancy:

Calling all singers! The Royal Choral Society is looking for new members across all voice parts so if you fancy singing in a vibrant, versatile and busy choir then why not come and try us out?

Come along to our Open Rehearsal on Monday 11 September 2017 where you can sing Haydn’s The Creation with us and find out more about the choir. The rehearsal runs from 6.30–8.30pm followed by wine and you can mingle with current members and find out how we operate. If you enjoy the evening, then we can fix a date for a straightforward audition with our Music Director Richard Cooke (usually on a Monday before rehearsal) and you could be a member of the Royal Choral Society in time for our Carmina Burana concert at the Royal Albert Hall in October. For more details of our Open Rehearsal just visit our website or email us to book your place.

We rehearse every Monday (with Easter, Christmas and summer breaks) from 6.30–8.30pm at the City of London School for Girls in London’s Barbican. If you can’t make the 11 September Open Rehearsal then there will be other rehearsals before Christmas that we will open up to potential new members. All details will be on our website.

The choir was formed for the opening of the Royal Albert Hall in 1871 and we are proud of our history and connections to some of the biggest names in classical music. Our 2017/18 season kicks off with an appearance on stage at BBC Proms in the Park, then Haydn’s The Creation at Holy Trinity Sloane Square, and Orff’s Carmina Burana, Christmas concerts and Handel’s Messiah – all at the Royal Albert Hall. We have some exciting plans for 2019 and beyond, including the choir’s 150th anniversary.

We are a friendly bunch and love to welcome new members.
