Northern Chords Festival
The Northern Chords Festival was set up in 2009 by local musician Jonathan Bloxham from Gateshead .He began playing the cello in primary school as part of the Gateshead Schools' Music service. When he went to study music in London he wanted to introduce his fellow students to the North East and with them, arranged Festival concerts as a way of saying thank you to his teachers, mentors and friends who supported him in those early years. The Festival has continued and flourished. Many of the original student artists have become internationally acclaimed musicians. Northern Chords Festival was registered by the Charity Commission in 2017.
