Funding for ideas that make positive changes in communities e.g. lasting and sustainable changes to places and spaces, stronger and happier relationships between communities and action to focus on the root causes of social problems.
Voluntary or community groups can apply but need to have three unrelated members on the management committee. Grants must fund activity where the people who will benefit have influenced and/or be involved in its development, planning and delivery.
Funding is available for costs associated with delivering the project, including staff salaries, training, volunteer expenses, management costs, equipment, premises costs, monitoring and evaluation and overheads. Funding is also available up to £100,000 for small scale capital work, such as refurbishment, the purchase of vehicles, land or buildings.
There is a two-stage application process. Stage one involves setting out the idea and funding required. If successful applicants submit a more detailed application within four months. Applications are assessed against a number of criteria including whether people with an interest have been involved in the planning, whether the proposal addresses a clearly defined need and will make a positive difference in the community and how it will be delivered.
