The Making Music Kirby Collection of printed music was created in 2011 thanks to a generous legacy from our first Chairman, Alan Kirby, who was a leading figure in choral singing in Surrey in the mid-20th century.
Alan and his wife Ethel were keen to ensure the continued success of choral singing in Surrey and the Making Music Board decided to use their legacy to purchase a collection of printed music, for the use of choirs in Surrey and the rest of the UK.
The extensive collection offers a wide range of contemporary repertoire including many choral favourites as well as more unusual pieces.
The Kirby Collection is currently housed in Bourne Hall, Ewell Library, Spring St, Ewell, KT17 1UF. The catalogue is available to browse in person during opening hours, or online 24/7, with the opportunity to check availability of stock or make reservations.
