CODA was founded by Arthur Boyd and its origins date back to 1982, when he had the idea of chamber recitals to support young and up-coming professional musicians by providing a venue for them to perform. CODA recitals, using its own Yamaha grand piano, take place at the theatre at Rose Hill School.

CODA is a registered charity (No. 286544) and has held nearly 250 recitals locally as well as presenting concerts at St. John’s, Smith Square, Wigmore Hall and the South Bank Centre.

Whilst Arthur’s legacy remains at the heart of CODA, Nigel Clayton, Professor of Piano at London’s Royal College of Music, is its current president and several other well-known artists are vice-presidents: Marcus Andrews, Michael Cox, Emma Johnson, James Lisney, Joan-Enric Lluna, Gina McCormack and Colin Stone. CODA’s current chairman is Alex Metcalfe.

At CODA, we pride ourselves on our reputation as a welcoming and friendly organisation with a distinctive personal touch. All those attending recitals have the opportunity to meet and chat to the artists over refreshments after the performance. As well as showcasing internationally renowned musicians, we have a history of supporting emerging artists and giving a platform to those who are at the beginning of their career. This includes a close relationship with The Countess of Munster Trust and Making Music.
