Kendal concert
This year marks the 450th anniversary of the granting of a Borough Charter to the town of Kendal by Queen Elizabeth 1. This meant that the town became self-governing and was one of the first in the north west to do so.
To mark the event, Kendal South choir, Amabile choirs and Fellas men's choir, all conducted by Geoffrey Field, will come together to perform Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Some local soloists will take part and a group of percussionists will be a major component of the concert.
The first half of the concert will showcase the rich musical heritage and continuing vibrant musical culture of the town. Each choir will sing short works and the percussion group will also perform a piece.
The concert will be at Kendal Parish Church on Saturday 10th May. Tickets are available from TicketSource, from choir members or from kendalsouthchoir.weebly.com, priced at £18, under 18s free.
