Sacred, Symphonic and Profane:
Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms
Bernstein Symphonic Dances from West Side Story (arranged for piano)
Orff Carmina Burana
Instantly recognizable due to its use in countless films, TV shows and adverts, a live Carmina Burana is one of classical music’s most exhilarating experiences for performers and audience alike. The version we will perform is the composer’s own arrangement for two pianos and a veritable ‘battery’ of percussion.
The concert also features Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, in its arrangement by Dmitri Shostakovich for choir and piano duet. This also commemorates 50 years since Shostakovich's death. The concert is completed with Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story in an arrangement for two pianos, played by our Musical Director and Assistant Musical Director.
