Musical Director

It is expected that applicants will have experience in conducting and working with amateur musicians and will be sympathetic to the aims of community music-making, most notably creating a safe and enjoyable space for members to develop their skills.

Key duties are to:

• Rehearse and conduct a season of up to three concerts a year (note that we are open to considering a rolling rotation of musical directors, with each director delivering one or two concerts per year; or one musical director, taking on all three concerts)
• Take the weekly orchestral rehearsals; these are on a Thursday evening (7.30pm to 9.30pm) in Inverurie during Aberdeenshire school term dates.
• Propose concert programmes and repertoire
• Assist with concert and rehearsal planning as required
• Attend committee meetngs whenever possible.
• Present a report to the orchestra’s AGM.
•  Provide advice/input to musical collaborations with other groups which may be proposed.
•  Make recommendations to the Commitee for the engagement of soloists and other extra performers needed for concerts
• Provide to the Commitee as requested any details required for producing programmes and publicity material

Fees

Fees are negotiable and will be per rehearsal with an additional concert day fee. They may be paid at a single point each term if required. Reasonable travel expenses are also payable.

The successful applicant will be responsible for submiƫng invoices and paying their own National Insurance contributions and income tax.
