Accompanist for Witham Choral

Witham Choral wishes to appoint an accompanist to join the choir as soon as possible to accompany our rehearsals from 7th September 2021 working towards our concert on the 11th December and 4th April 2022 depending on availability of the successful applicant. This position has become available due to the sad and sudden death of our previous accompanist who had been with us for many happy years. The Accompanist is paid £50 per rehearsal plus a fee for concerts (usually 3 per year) and would be asked to accompany and rehearse with the choir and play at concerts. Witham Choral rehearse every Tuesday 7.45-9.45 during school term times at Witham United Reformed Church in Newland Street, Witham, Essex, in the centre of town and is easily reached by a short walk from the mainline railway station between London and Colchester/Ipswich. The choir has approximately 40 members on its books, although fewer are expected to return initially when rehearsal resume in September 2021. We are a SATB choir who enjoy singing from the wide choral repertoire with a lighter summer concert of works such as Opera Choruses and Gilbert and Sullivan, we also hold either one Christmas concert or hold a ‘Carols for charity’ Christmas Open Rehearsal. We also enjoy holding the occasional ‘Come and Sing’ as part of our ongoing recruitment drives, bringing together other singers in our area.
