The competition is organised by Rondo Media and the semi-final and final rounds will be recorded by Rondo for broadcast on S4C.
There are five categories:
- Children’s Choirs (16 years of age and under)
- Youth Choirs (under 25 years of age)
- Mixed Voice Choirs
- Female Voice Choirs
- Male Voice Choirs
Each choir that reaches the semi-finals will receive £500 and the winners of each category will receive a further prize of £500, and will compete against each other for the title Côr Cymru 2015, and the main award of £4,000.
The semi-final rounds will be held during the weekend of 20-22 February 2015, and the final on Sunday, 19 April 2015. The venue will be Aberystwyth Arts Centre, and on each occasion, the choirs will perform in front of a live audience.
Applications are invited from choirs from Wales, and choirs outside Wales that have a close connection with Wales, or who perform regularly in the Welsh language.
Each choir must have a minimum of 20 members. In the category for Youth Choirs, each member of the choir has to be under 25 years of age on the day of the final, i.e. 14 April 2015. In the children’s choirs category, each member of the choir must be 16 or under on 31 August 2015.
Closing date for applications: 1 October 2014.
Taking into account the term dates of colleges, applications from Youth Choirs will be accepted up until 8 October 2014.
