Corporate member Take it Away announces its revised scheme which allows musicians (including hobby musicians) to access affordable musical instruments.
Arts Council England awards funding support to Take it Away to re-launch its flagship programme which offers interest-free loans to customers for the purchase of musical instruments, equipment and software
Launched by Creative United on 10 November, the 'announcement is reflective of the Arts Council’s commitment to lifelong creativity and helps to achieve the organisation’s 2020-30 strategy, Let’s Create, by helping people of all ages, from all parts of the country, access and enjoy music.' The aim of this scheme is to encourage everyone to learn to play and continue making music.
With the new funding, Take it Away also makes updates to its online portal ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience for its members.
This marks a significant milestone for the organisation since its initial launch in 2007 on an ‘open to all’ basis. To date, the programme has supported 100,000 customers with the purchase of £72m worth of musical instruments and equipment.
Take it Away works with music retailers to offer interest-free finance for the purchase of musical instruments, equipment and software to support musicians at every level. The scheme is available across 120 stores in England and Northern Ireland, most of which also offer an online shop.
