Since HMRC launched the Creative Industries Tax reliefs in 2017, our OTR service has been a great success earning our instrumental groups over £250,000 of additional income.
On average, each group claimed back around 15% of their annual production costs which in some cases, amounted to over £10,000.
The size and income bracket of groups were evenly represented. There were claims from every size group, from smaller groups with fewer than 30 members who earn under £7,200 each year all the way up to larger groups with over 90 members and an annual income of £100,000.
Over 90% of our instrumental member groups have turned this income into an annual boost by allowing us to submit a tax claim on their behalf for them each year.
"We are delighted to have just received our first payment from HMRC for Orchestra Tax Relief. We worked closely with Making Music on this- they provided us with training at the start of the process and hand-holding throughout. Hopefully, many other amateur orchestras will also take advantage of this welcome governmental support to amateur music." - Ealing Symphony Orchestra
