This year around 4,000 performers from across the globe will be performing, with as many as 50,000 predicted visitors will converge on Llangollen’s International Pavilion; to sing and dance in a unique combination of competition, performance, and international peace and friendship.
This year’s line-up boasts distinguished headliners from every conceivable music genre, such as the ‘songwriter's songwriter’ Burt Bacharach, star of BBC’s BAFTA winning ‘The Choir’ series Gareth Malone, international superstar Rufus Wainwright and one of Britain’s greatest reggae collectives that come in the form of UB40!
Big headliners aside, the Eisteddfod undoubtedly climaxes with its prestigious ‘Choir of the World’ competition. Although the line-up for the ‘Choir of the World’ competition has not yet been finalised, it is without a doubt that it will be a brilliant event showcasing the globe's finest talents; especially considering that in 2005 Luciano Pavarotti added his name to the competition in recognition of his appreciation of the festival and its influence on his career. The festival runs from Monday the 6 to Sunday 12 July, tickets and more information can be found at international-eisteddfod.co.uk.
