Continuo Connect offers a comprehensive early music listing service, spotlighting both established and emerging talents supported by the Continuo Foundation. And the website is completely free!
Did you know that many of the UK’s finest classical musicians, playing on period instruments with the likes of the OAE and the Academy of Ancient Music, regularly perform in smaller ensembles in local venues across the country?
It’s true and it’s a wonderful way to access and explore Baroque, Renaissance, and medieval music, along with later classical music and even brand-new contemporary music performed on historical ‘period’ instruments. These immersive, intimate concerts take place in churches, pubs, village halls, and even in barns, and used to be notoriously difficult to find. But now, thanks to Continuo Foundation (a leading charity funding and supporting early music in the UK) there’s Continuo Connect!
Continuo Connect is an online platform built around a comprehensive early music concert listings service, making it easy to discover and attend these concerts near you – and offers much more. While some artists featured on the website are well-known (such as the OAE and the Academy of Ancient Music, who are both members), many will be new to you. In fact, the site features 22 outstanding ensembles formed within the last three years, emerging groups who have been selected for grants by Continuo Foundation’s expert Advisory Panel. And so, Continuo Connect focuses on artist ‘discovery’ as a vital part of the experience.
You’ll find searchable profiles on hundreds of professional, vetted groups and individual musicians, all interlinked so you can see who plays with whom and on which instrument, with many videos, audio tracks, images, social media, and external websites linked for those who want to delve deeper. Continuo Connect also has numerous features, interviews, and guides providing further insight into the fascinating music and musicians making up this thriving scene.
Continuo Connect is completely free to use, and it’s both fast and mobile-friendly, ideal to browse on-the-go or at leisure from the comfort of your favourite chair. Perhaps the most important aspect of Continuo Connect, however, is the way it brings musicians to the attention of new audiences – and in keeping with Continuo Foundation’s charitable objectives, it’s also completely free to the musicians, and focused on supporting their brilliant work.
So why not make a quick visit to the Continuo Connect website? You might be surprised to discover what’s happening at a church, hall, or even pub near you!
You can also subscribe to our free twice-monthly e-newsletter to have concert recommendations, curated playlists, and highlights of behind-the-scenes interviews and new features on Continuo Connect, delivered directly to your inbox.
